Nick Piper entered the broadcasting arena with virtually no experience or training. Within six months, he was hosting two primetime television shows and travelling the world as part of the international travel show ‘Destination Planet Earth’. Success followed quickly with light entertainment hits ‘Dreams Game True’, ‘The Game’ and Grundy game show ‘Off The Planet’. Piper’s TV profile enabled him to run with the Olympic Torch, skate the length of NZ for children’s charity, operate the Positive Kids Motivational Speaking Programme, win two National Radio Awards, host Miss Universe New Zealand and be the youngest person to be nominated for a National TV Award. His unique and ambitious entry into television was heralded as the ‘template method’ for any young aspiring professional. His method of self-promotion enabled him to transfer hard work into a ten year career spanning nearly every genre.
In 2003 Nick set up production company Onion Media Group – providing corporate, creative and showreel production. In 2004 he partnered with Derrick Siu to create the learning resource business Plop Entertainment – responsible for the How To Be A TV Star Series of educational resources.
